Our commitment
My Perfume House is a fragrance education experience, and it only works if every guest can take part. We want everyone to be able to browse, book, and buy on our site and to enjoy the shop in person. When something gets in the way, we want to hear about it and fix it.
The standard we work toward
We aim for our site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the W3C. We work toward that standard as we build and update pages. We do not claim the site is perfect, and some pages or features may fall short while we improve them.
What we do on this site
- Pages use clear headings and landmarks, so screen reader users can move around quickly.
- Menus, forms, filters, and question and answer lists can be used with a keyboard alone, and keyboard focus is visible.
- Buttons and links are sized for touch, at least 44 pixels tall.
- Text and background colors are chosen to meet AA contrast, and text can be enlarged in the browser.
- Form fields have labels, and errors are described in text.
- Background videos are muted and decorative. On small screens, and when a visitor prefers reduced data or reduced motion, they are replaced with a still image.
- Informative images have descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
Known limitations
Some content comes from other providers and may not meet the same standard. This includes embedded videos, social media feeds, newsletter signup forms, and checkout and payment screens. Photos posted by guests or from social media may be missing descriptions at first. Older documents, such as PDFs, may not be fully accessible yet.
If you cannot use something, we will give you the information or complete the task another way, by phone, email, or in person.
In the shop
The shop is on the ground floor, with a single step at the door. The space is small, about 400 square feet, and the restroom is compact. Service animals are welcome.
If accessibility affects your visit, email or call us beforehand and we will prepare. We can clear a path, help at the entrance, bring bottles and samples to you at a seat, or slow a consultation down.
Fragrance is what we sell, so scent sensitivities matter too. Tell us about yours before you visit and we can talk through options, such as a quieter time or a consultation with fewer samples.
Feedback and requests
If you hit a barrier on the site or in the shop, or need something in another format such as large print, please tell us. Include the page address, what happened, and the device or assistive technology you were using if you can.
